Lock and Unlock

Choose When the Vault Locks

The vault locks whenever you leave SilentBox, after a short time without use, and — if you like — the moment you put your device face down.

Auto-Lock

  1. At the top of the album list, tap Settings (if you don't see it, tap … first).
  2. Under Security, tap Auto-Lock and choose how long the vault waits: 30 seconds (the default), 1, 5 or 10 minutes, or never.

The time counts from when you stop using the vault. SilentBox doesn't lock while you're touching the screen or holding the device in your hand, while you're choosing photos, or while an import, a scan or an export is running. It always locks when you leave the app, even with Auto-Lock set to never.

To read longer without the vault locking, turn on Stay unlocked while you look at the screen under Security and allow camera access. The switch isn't there when Auto-Lock is set to never. The front camera checks every few seconds whether someone is in front of the screen. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere, but the camera indicator stays on while the vault is open, and it uses more battery.

To lock right away, tap Lock (the padlock at the top of the album list).

Screen down

  1. In Settings, scroll to Screen down and tap it.
  2. Choose Lock only, or pick Mail, Messages, Music or Website to open it as the vault locks. For Website, type the address below.
  3. Put your iPhoneiPad face down. The vault locks, and what you chose opens.
NoteScreen down works only while SilentBox is on screen: iOS doesn't let any app open another one from the background. Screen down is part of the Full Version.
