Export and Back Up
Restore from an Archive
Bring the items in an encrypted archive back into your vault, on this device or any other.
- At the top of the album list, tap Settings (if you don't see it, tap … first).
- Under Backup, tap Restore from a Backup, then choose the archive file.
- Enter the archive's password, not your vault password, and tap Restore.
- If your vault already has items, choose Keep Existing Items or Replace Everything.
- If some items in the archive are already in your vault, choose Skip Duplicates or Import Duplicates.
- Wait while SilentBox restores the items. Import Finished tells you how many came back, and to which albums.
Each item goes back to its original album, and albums that are missing are created. Items keep their dates, and text in scans is recognized again so you can search it.
Replace Everything moves the items now in your vault to the Trash. They stay there for 30 days, so you can put them back if you chose the wrong archive. A duplicate is an exact copy of an item already in your vault, not just one with the same name.
From an album
- Open an album and tap More (the three dots at the bottom right).
- Under Import, tap .sbxarchive and choose the archive file.
- Enter the archive's password and tap Import, then answer the same questions as above.
Items from the archive that weren't in any other album go into the album you have open.
TipWhen the restore finishes, compare the number of items with the number SilentBox showed when you made the archive. An archive that was cut short, for example by an interrupted copy or a full disk, can restore without an error, so the count is how you know it's complete.
NoteRestoring adds items to your vault, so it needs the trial or the Full Version. If the password is wrong, SilentBox says the vault could not be unlocked and adds nothing.
