Export and Back Up
Back Up the Whole Vault
One encrypted archive with every album, to keep somewhere other than this device.
- At the top of the album list, tap Settings (if you don't see it, tap … first).
- Under Backup, tap Back Up the Whole Vault.
- If some items are only in iCloud, choose Download and Export to include them.
- If you have locked albums, confirm it's you with Face ID or Touch ID, your PIN or your password.
- Choose a password for the archive, at least 8 characters, enter it twice and tap Create Archive. It's separate from your vault password.
- When Exporting finishes, choose where to save the archive. Backup Saved tells you how many items it holds.
TipCancel stops the backup and leaves nothing half-written behind.
NoteIf you forget the archive password, there's no way to recover it. Items in the Trash aren't included. The encrypted archive is part of the Full Version.
NoteYour vault isn't part of the iPhoneiPad backup, so restoring the device from a backup doesn't bring the vault back. It comes back through iCloud from another device, or from an archive like this one.
