If You Lose a Device
Change your password so the old one no longer opens the vault, then open your vault on another device.
- On a device you still have, tap Settings at the top of the album list (if you don't see it, tap … first).
- Under If You Lose a Device, tap Change Password.
- Enter your current password and a new one of at least 8 characters, then tap Change.
The old password no longer opens the vault on any device. Your recovery phrase stays the same; it doesn't depend on your password.
Get Your Vault Back
If iCloud sync was on, your vault is still in iCloud — every album that synced. On a new or replacement device, open SilentBox and unlock with your vault password — see Add a second iPhone or iPad. If you forgot the password, see If you forget your password.
Restoring a device from an iPhone or iPad backup doesn't bring the vault back: SilentBox keeps it out of device backups. It comes back through iCloud, or from an encrypted archive you made yourself — see Restore from an archive.
Remove or Delete
Near the bottom of Settings, under Remove or delete, are two ways out for the device in your hand:
- Remove from This iPhoneiPad removes the vault and its keys from this device only. The vault stays in iCloud, and you can open it here again with your password. SilentBox first sends the latest changes to iCloud; if it can't, nothing is removed. If some albums don't sync, it offers to turn on iCloud for them first, or to delete their items for good. You confirm with your password or Face ID or Touch ID.
- Delete Everywhere deletes the vault on every device, its iCloud backup and the key that opens it. Not even the recovery phrase can bring it back. You confirm twice: tap Continue, then enter your password and tap Delete Forever, or confirm with Face ID or Touch ID.
