Lock and Unlock

Unlock with Face ID or Your Password

Open the vault with a glance or a touch. Your password always works too.

Turn on Face ID or Touch ID

  1. At the top of the album list, tap Settings (if you don't see it, tap … first).
  2. Under Security, turn on Unlock with Face ID — or Unlock with Touch ID on a device with Touch ID.
  3. Enter your vault password and tap Turn On.

Unlock the vault

When you open SilentBox, it asks for Face ID or Touch ID right away. If you cancel, tap Unlock with Face ID to try again, or type your password and tap Unlock with Password.

After a wrong password, SilentBox makes you wait before the next try, and the wait grows with each mistake. Once you're in, it tells you how many failed attempts there were since you last unlocked.

To lock the vault yourself, tap Lock (the padlock at the top of the album list).

TipIf Face ID stops working, SilentBox says so under the button. Unlock with your password, then turn Unlock with Face ID off and on again in Settings.
NoteFace ID and Touch ID belong to this device only: the key they use never leaves it. Turn them on separately on each device. If Face ID or Touch ID isn't set up in the Settings app, SilentBox shows Biometrics are not set up instead of the switch.
